Rourkela: Rourkela is hosting 109 pujas this year under Central Puja Committee, which would celebrate them in a grand manner, and a number of unique theme-based pandals of puja committees have emerged as the prime attraction. The pujas will be celebrated in Steel Township, Civil Township and Fertiliser area here.
For these pujas, most committees have made huge theme-based pandals, which include Attari-Wagah border, Fairy Palace (Pari Mahal), ‘Hanuman Ansh’ movie, Iconic Chariot of Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra with suna besa of the trinity. The Sector-20 puja committee, which is always known for displaying a unique theme-based pandal, has made an Attari-Wagah border-themed pandal inspired by the films Border 1 and Border 2.
While the exterior has been made on the Attari-Wagah border theme, its interior displays Border 1 and Border 2 movie scenes of patriotism with images of actors Sunny Deol, Ahan Shetty, Varun Dhawan and Diljit Dosanjh in the gallery. Images of a famous temple and a known freedom fighter from each of the states and all Union Territories have been displayed in the gallery of the pandal.
Thirty craftsmen from West Bengal have been engaged in making this huge pandal, and a number of stalls on this ground would also be a huge attraction. The idol of goddess Durga has been displayed in front of the Himalayas.
The estimated expenditure for this puja is around Rs 20 lakh. Sector-16 Puja committee has made a grand fairy palace (Pari Mahal) pandal featuring white architecture, towers and special lighting.
Goddess Durga has been shown in fairy (Pari) form. A puja committee at Sector-17 has made the pandal of maritime heritage, and inside the pandal near goddess Durga, an image of the recent famous ‘Hanuman Ansh’ movie has been displayed.
Ten avatars of Vishnu and four dhams have been displayed in this pandal. Another Sector-17 puja committee, near a petrol pump, has recreated the grandeur of Thailand’s iconic Grand Palace.
Sector-2 Puja committee has made a huge pandal inspired by Nilkanth Dham Poicha Swaminarayan temple, Gujarat. This year’s pandal promises stunning architecture.
Sector-1 puja committee has made a huge pandal and has recreated the grandeur and intricate beauty of Rajasthan’s Jain temple architecture. Sector-8 puja committee has made a pandal of Maharana Pratap’s Udaipur City Palace, Rajasthan.
This puja committee will spend around Rs 25 lakh in this year’s puja. Sector-7 puja committee has given a Rath Yatra touch to the puja pandal and has made three iconic chariots of Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra and Subhadra, where Suna besa of the Trinity will be displayed at the front, and after entering the pandal, pandal hoppers will see the goddess Durga on the stage.
Telephone Bhawan Puja Committee, which is celebrating its 60th-year puja this year, has made the pandal of Chandrodaya Mandir of Banaras. Ispat Market Puja Committee has set up a Toy House pandal.
To ensure peaceful and smooth celebrations, Rourkela police have made elaborate security arrangements across the city. Police personnel will be deployed at various puja pandals, while sensitive locations are being inspected with the help of dog squads.
Drones would also be used for traffic management, surveillance and crime prevention. Security measures include 30 platoons of police force that would be deployed to maintain law and order throughout the festivities.“Elaborate security arrangement has been made for the peaceful and smooth celebration of Durga Puja across the city.
