Full story

New Delhi: As many as 154 police personnel from state police forces and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), including three from Delhi Police, who lost their lives in the line of duty between Sept 1, 2025, and Aug 31, 2026, were honoured at the Police Commemoration Day parade organised by Delhi Police at Parade Ground in Kingsway Camp Wednesday. Delhi Police commissioner Anurag Kumar laid a wreath at the memorial to pay tribute to the deceased personnel.

Former lieutenant governor Kiran Bedi and former Delhi Police commissioners also paid their respects. A two-minute silence was observed in memory of the personnel who died in service.

Of the 154 personnel commemorated, 25 belonged to Border Security Force, 12 to Bihar Police, nine each to Jammu & Kashmir Police and Indo-Tibetan Border Police, and eight to Railway Protection Force. The three Delhi Police personnel remembered during the ceremony were assistant sub-inspector Ashok Kumar, constable Sandeep Dahiya and constable Mohar Singh Meena.

Ashok Kumar, posted at Mohan Garden police station in Dwarka district, died in a road accident on Dec 24, 2025, while returning after completing his GRAP-IV duty. He was declared dead on arrival at a hospital.

Dahiya died on Aug 5 after the govt vehicle he was driving met with an accident on Mumbai-Delhi Expressway while he was returning from an official assignment in Jaipur. The accident occurred within the jurisdiction of Jaisinghpur police post in Nuh, Haryana.

Meena died on Jan 15 after the bus in which he was travelling met with an accident on Delhi-Mumbai Expressway while he was on official duty in Alwar, Rajasthan.
