Full story

The investigation into the firing incident outside actor Tiger Shroff’s residence in Mumbai has taken a new turn after the mother of one of the four recently arrested accused claimed that her son was innocent. Speaking to reporters, Sumit’s mother said the 19-year-old had travelled to the Khatu Shyam temple in Rajasthan and had no knowledge of the alleged shooting or the movement of the firearm.

Her statement comes after Delhi Police arrested Sumit and three others in connection with the case. The allegations against the accused remain under investigation.

Four accused arrested on October 20On October 20, the Delhi Police Special Cell apprehended Sumit and 21-year-old Kunal in Haryana’s Sonipat district. Two other accused, Radha and Babita, both 23, were detained at New Delhi Railway Station.

The Maharashtra Police Crime Investigation Department (CID) subsequently formally arrested all four in connection with the case. They were remanded in transit custody to facilitate their transfer to Mumbai for further investigation.

The arrests came two days after the reported firing outside Tiger Shroff’s residence in Mumbai’s Juhu area on October 18. Investigators are examining the alleged roles of the four accused in arranging and transporting the firearm and ammunition purportedly used in the incident.

Sumit’s mother says police took him for questioning Speaking to PTI, Sumit’s mother claimed that police initially told the family they wanted to question her son about a dispute, without explaining the specific case in which he was allegedly involved. She said Sumit had been working at a clothing shop for approximately three years and had studied until Class 9.“My son works at a clothing shop and has been working there for around three years.

He has studied till Class 9. He had told me that he was going to Khatu Shyam,” she said.

According to his mother, Sumit returned home early in the morning after visiting the temple. She also claimed that he had video-called his family during the trip and that they had call records to support their account.

She maintained that her son had never visited Mumbai and had no connection to the firing incident.‘He was misled’: Sumit’s mother names local acquaintance Nitin Sumit’s mother also named a local acquaintance, Nitin, whom she claimed had introduced her son to people now linked to the investigation. She suggested that Sumit may have been misled, while maintaining that the family had little knowledge of the alleged network.“He has nothing to do with this.

He was misled,” she said, adding that she was unaware of any inducement that might have been offered to him. She further claimed that Sumit generally spent his time watching reels and You Tube videos on his phone and rarely stayed away from home for extended periods.

These statements reflect the family’s account and have not independently established whether Sumit was involved in the alleged offence. Accused’s mother speaks about family’s financial circumstances Sumit’s mother said the family depended on daily-wage labour and lived in rented accommodation.

She explained that they had recently moved because they could no longer afford the rent at their previous residence. She also denied that the relocation had anything to do with the police investigation and appealed to the authorities to ensure that her son was released if he was found to have no involvement in the case.

Her remarks come as investigators continue to examine the alleged roles of those arrested and the links between them. What have Delhi Police alleged in the Tiger Shroff firing case?According to the initial police investigation, the four accused allegedly played roles in arranging and transporting a firearm and ammunition for those suspected of carrying out the October 18 firing in Juhu.

Investigators allege that Kunal collected a pistol and 20 rounds of ammunition from Amritsar, with Sumit accompanying him. Radha and Babita are then alleged to have transported the weapon to Mumbai.

Police further claim that a minor boy collected the bag from near their hotel on October 17. The firing reportedly took place the following evening, at around 7 pm.

Tiger Shroff on the work front Shroff has wrapped shooting for an action film directed by Remo D'Souza and produced by Viccky Jain, co-starring Nushrratt Bharuccha and Abhishek Banerjee. He is also set to headline the Raj Mehta-directed romantic-action drama 'Lag Jaa Gale' alongside Janhvi Kapoor and Lakshya.
