Dolly Parton’s former West Hollywood home has been taken off the rental market after being listed for $12,000 a month, according to Realtor.com. The two-bedroom property, which the late country music icon purchased in 2007 for $1.2 million, was marketed as a rare opportunity to rent a home once associated with the legendary singer.
Built in 1923, the furnished property is located in the heart of West Hollywood’s Design District, close to Melrose Avenue, Santa Monica Boulevard, restaurants, boutique shops and nightlife. The listing highlighted its vintage charm, updated interiors and outdoor entertaining spaces.
Inside Dolly Parton’s former West Hollywood home The home was listed for rent in July, with the listing held by Richard Schulman of KW Westside Estates at KW Westside Estates. The description promoted it as a “rare opportunity to lease the legendary former home of Dolly Parton.”The property features an open-plan living area, a modern kitchen, two bedrooms and two bathrooms.
Its living room includes a fireplace and ample seating, while the kitchen features marble counters, patterned tile and modern appliances.“Inside, the open-concept living area is filled with natural light and stylish finishes, flowing into an updated kitchen with stainless steel appliances and designer tile,” the listing stated. The primary bedroom accommodates a king-size bed and a seating area, along with a walk-in closet and an en-suite bathroom.
It also offers access to the backyard. The second bedroom has its own covered balcony.
Outside, the property features a patio, an outdoor kitchen, a dining area and a covered deck. The listing described the outdoor spaces as ideal for dining and entertaining, while emphasising the neighbourhood’s walkability and connections to Los Angeles’ entertainment and cultural history.
The listing stated that the home would be available from August 15, 2026. However, it has since been taken off the rental market.
When did Dolly Parton buy and sell the property?Parton purchased the two-bedroom, two-bathroom home in 2007 for $1.2 million. Although she owned the West Hollywood property, her primary residence was in Tennessee, where she lived with her late husband, Carl Dean.
In 2014, the property was listed for sale for $1.4 million. Records indicate that it changed hands in 2023 for $1.2 million, although it remains unclear whether Parton sold it privately before that transaction.
The home was also previously listed on Airbnb. According to the earlier listing, the property retained “the original furniture and décor that Dolly personally owned.”Legal dispute involving Dolly Parton’s estate The property’s removal from the rental market comes amid developments involving Parton’s estate and Bryan Seaver, who identified himself as the son of Cassie Parton and announced the singer’s death through her Instagram account.
According to the supplied report, Parton died peacefully in Nashville on August 25 following a brief battle with cancer. She had spent decades living in Tennessee with Dean, who died in March 2025.
In the announcement, Seaver recalled that Parton had asked him years earlier to share the news of her death. He also paid tribute to her life and expressed the hope that she had been reunited with Dean, her parents and other loved ones.
Seaver, who had served as head of security at Parton’s properties for more than two decades, was fired from the role on September 16. He subsequently became embroiled in a legal dispute with She’s Alive, LLC (SAL), an entity tasked with protecting and promoting Parton’s brand.
SAL has accused Seaver of making threats of violence and attempting to evade service of legal documents. Seaver has denied the allegations.
Court hearing postponed amid dispute over service of summons The legal dispute intensified after Seaver filed a motion on October 2 seeking to postpone a hearing scheduled for October 9, claiming he had been unable to secure legal representation. A judge granted the request and moved the hearing to October 20, despite opposition from SAL.
In court filings, the entity alleged that attempts to serve Seaver with a summons had been unsuccessful on three occasions. According to the filing, a process server reported seeing four vehicles in the driveway during one attempt, but no one answered the door.
The filing further alleged that a no-trespassing sign and barbed wire had subsequently appeared near the entrance to the property. SAL argued that the court should view Seaver’s claim that he could not find an attorney with scepticism.
These assertions remain allegations made in court documents, and Seaver has denied the accusations against him. Ready to Make a Smarter Property Decision?
